With restorative dentistry, several problems can be corrected, including:
At Twin Cities Modern Dentistry in Eden Prairie, our dentists have been working for many years in the field of dental restoration, and they can ensure that you get results that both look and feel completely natural. With the various options that are available today through modern dentistry, you can have your mouth restored to full functionality and appearance by means of treatments like crown lengthening, dental bridges and more. There is no need for anyone to suffer from a substandard smile or functional dental problems.
A dental bridge consists of crowns that are connected in series, in order to fill in gaps that result from missing teeth. A bridge can correct the appearance of a single missing tooth or even several teeth. It is both a cosmetic and a functional solution, because not only do missing teeth look bad, the remaining teeth tend to move toward the gap in order to correct it, and this can mean you ending up with a bad bite.
A dental bridge is placed in the empty space of a missing tooth, using the existing adjacent teeth as anchors. A bridge is made from dental porcelain, and colored to match the rest of your teeth. As to the procedure, before your dental bridge is created, your dentist has to make your existing teeth somewhat smaller. To achieve this, he or she will scrape off a bit of your existing tooth surface, and then take an impression of your teeth that will serve to create a mold. When your permanent bridge is created, your dentist will cement it in place.
Dental implants can be done on just one tooth or several. At Twin Cities Modern Dentistry, we recommend “All-on-4” Dental implants as a way of restoring your teeth to full functionality. If your underlying bone structure is not in a good enough condition to receive implants, you can benefit from bone grafting to restore your jaw.
With the CEREC® system for dental crowns, you can have crowns installed in just one visit. This system is known as “Same Day Crowns” for good reason. You can eliminate repeated visits to the dentist, and have your crowns installed in just one day with the CEREC® dental crown system.
If you have missing teeth, or if your dental
health is such that you anticipate losing teeth in the near future, full or partial dentures could be the solution. Today’s dentures are very different from those of years past – they work as well as your natural teeth and look natural as well.
Dental crowns restore the appearance and the functionality of your teeth. Your teeth may need to be prepared in order to receive dental crowns. Sometimes, your original teeth may be small in appearance or seem to be tucked in under your gums. In order to correct this unsightly appearance or to prepare your teeth to receive crowns, your dentist may use a procedure called crown lengthening. This involves scraping away a bit of your gum tissue to lengthen your teeth. It allows the crowns to fit more securely and results in a better appearance.
Crown lengthening can also be done in the absence of dental crowns, purely as a cosmetic procedure. It is done under general anesthetic, so you won’t feel any pain, and whether it is done as a means of preparing your teeth for crowns, or simply as a cosmetic measure in order to restore a good appearance, it is minimally invasive and will not cause you any discomfort.
