A missing tooth can have a significant impact on your confidence and health. If you are in need of restoration, we can provide you with attractive, state-of-the-art dental bridges at our Minneapolis practice. Bridges can be used to replace teeth that have been lost to disease or injury, and are made of porcelain to blend seamlessly into your smile. To schedule a consultation with Drs. We always try to use the most conservative methods to preserve your healthy teeth. There are times, however, when a tooth just cannot be saved. When that happens, we recommend using some form of dental prosthetic to fill the gap. If the space is left empty, the surrounding teeth are more vulnerable, and may even migrate out of proper alignment. This can cause problems with your bite, as well as other related health issues.
Dental implants are one possible solution to restore a missing tooth, but the procedure requires several months of healing time and has to be performed in stages. It also has higher associated costs than the placement of a dental bridge.
At Twin Cities Modern Dentistry, we are always concerned with choosing the options that best fit your particular needs. We will never push you into something that is not right for you, and will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision regarding your care. We can determine whether a bridge is right for you during a comprehensive evaluation.
In order to place a dental bridge, y ou must have two strong, healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth that can be used as abutments (the supporting framework for the restoration). During the procedure, we will prepare the two supporting teeth and remove just enough tooth material from each one to allow us to attach a customized dental crown – a porcelain “cap” that fully encapsulates a tooth down to the gum line. We then create a custom-made false tooth, known as a pontic, that will fit between the two anchoring crowns. Your new restoration will then be secured using a specialized dental cement. A bridge can also be supported by a dental implant.
To create a bridge, many dentists have to take a physical mold of a patient’s teeth and then send it to an offsite dental lab for the prosthetic to be fabricated.
Today, we are able to use sophisticated CEREC® technology and an ultra-modern CAD/CAM system to create and place your bridge right in our office, in just one visit. This amazing technology is based on 3D imaging and cutting-edge software combined with a high-speed milling machine that shapes a small block of dental-grade porcelain. This technique not only saves you valuable time, but also gives us a precise degree of control over the entire process, from start to finish.
If you are missing a tooth or need to undergo an extraction, a dental bridge may be just what you need to get your smile back into shape. Contact us today to find out how we can restore your smile and preserve your oral health.
